Can you help this Sunday

As many may be aware this Sunday morning will see the ocean swim series and the fastest man on the sand carnivals at Suttons Beach.  Last time an ocean swim series was held at our beach over 20 rescues were performed on the competitors.  Because of this I would like to ask anyone who is available to please come down and assist on Sunday.

Any assistance that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Between the Flags… Beyond the Beach

SLSQ major partner for the 2011/12 Surf Safe Summer Appeal, Channel 9, has kindly produced a Surf Life Saving Documentary which will go to air this Sunday 27th November at 6.30pm state wide on Ch9 and WIN.

The documentary is called “Between the Flags….Beyond the Beach” and will highlight the extraordinary people involved in surf life saving, share real life stories of what services we provide to the public and inform the wider community as to why Surf Life Saving Queensland needs their help this summer during the appeal. We ask clubs to please let everyone know about the documentary screening time and we hope you enjoy it!

Christmas Patrols

The Christmas holidays are fast approaching and there are many public holidays that need to be filled.  Over the Christmas/New Year break the majority of public holidays take place so all patrols have been rostered on at least once, on top of their normal patrols.  Christmas Day is also a voluntary day, we need to patrol all day so if anyone can spare a couple of hours to pop down it is greatly appreciated.  Christmas is a day to spend with family so please do not leave it to the same people to do the whole day, any time you can spare is greatly appreciated.  Any volunteers for Christmas Day can put their name on the blackboard in the club or email the club or myself.

Patrols are:
Christmas Day 25/12 : Volunteer
Christmas Day Holiday 26/12: Patrol 8 AM; Patrol 3 PM
Boxing Day Holiday 27/12: Patrol 1 AM; Patrol 4 PM
New Years Day 1/1: Patrol 5 AM; Patrol 6 PM
New Years Holiday 2/1: Patrol 8 AM; Patrol 9 PM
Australia Day 26/1: Patrol 2 AM; Patrol 7 PM

This will leave many of our members having to patrol just a few days apart from each patrol but unfortunately this is how the calendar is set.  This will require a large commitment which the public as well as SLSQ the club thank you for.  On the plus side this does leave fewer public holidays remaining throughout the rest of the year.

If you are unable to attend your patrols please ring around to try to find a replacement, if you are still unable to do so please contact Vice Club Captain Tony Le Roux.

See you on the beach.

Basic Resuscitation Course this Sunday

A reminder that this Sunday we will be doing the Basic Resuscitation Course for all under 12 and under 13 year old nippers.  This is a compulsary unit of their surf education and must be completed (it also needs completing if your child wishes to compete in any carnivals after the end of November).  I am aware some of you may not be able to attend this Sunday due to carnivals so anybody that misses this Sunday will be able to do it the following Sunday (20th).  These are the only dates available to do this course so please attend one of these Sundays.
